Five Photos

I like how this person took 5 different basketball players and blended them into the background. It gives the picture power. It also looks like there about to dunk.

The thing that stood out the most about this picture would be how the person made the reflection of the heart in the water. It looks cool how the heart is splashing but i think people would be more interested in the reflection.

I like this picture because it's representing our school north. I also like how they made it look like he's moving really fast like he speed of lightening.

This interested me because not only does this picture look sort of goth but it gives it that comic book look. Kind of like a cartoon.

I'm really interested in this one because it looks like there really floating on the clouds. They made this picture blend like you couldn't even tell it's been photoshopped. The only think I dislike about this are the words. The picture looks real but the words made it seem fake.

Artwork Critique : Shepard Fairy

Artwork Critique

Artist Name:
Title of Artwork:
  1. 1.) What common themes of style does this artist's work have (in all the images)?

  2. -The Obey symbol and the red/black color. Also the patterns in the background.

  3. 2.) What common themes in the topic or message does the artist's work have (in all the images)?

  4. - The lighting and the way he drew it.

  5. 3.) (Hour 1 Students Only) Describe the features that make it clear that Shepard Fairy's work is vector art and often created using Adobe Illustrator.

  6. 4.) What stood out the most when you first saw this image was the mysterious girl in a headscarf with spray paint in her hands. This image looks like she's an innocent girl with a hidden agenda. It makes you wonder what she's gonna do next.

  7. 5.) This drew my attention because I wear a headscarf and just having someone to compare it with surprises me. I mean not all artist draw or take pictures with girls in headscarfs. I also like the color , it really gives it that deceiving look.

  8. 6.) As I keep looking, what also seemed important was the Obey symbol. It kinda represents the whole picture. I think the artist wanted us to focus more on the girl then the symbol because it's so small.

  9. 7.) The thing I mentioned in number 4 seems important because it doesn't make me feel like an outcast. It's something that I can actually relate to. Just looking at this gives me motives to look at what other drawing the artist painted.

  10. 8.) How is contrasting light or color used in the composition?

  11. - There's different shades of yellow and tan. Whether its light or dark it's the same just more complex.

  12. - The side of her face and hands attracts more light then the rest of the image. Almost like It's a tan yellowish color.

  13. 9.) What directs your attention from one point to another in the image?

  14. - The way she's covering her face but slowly pulls out the spray paint.

  15. 10.) What seems to be hiding in this composition, parts of the image, themes, messages, etc.?

  16. - The Obey symbol looks like it's somewhat hidden because it's so small in the right hand corner. I think the message to this draw is telling us to not believe everything you see with your eyes.

  17. 11.) Why do you think this was partially hidden?

  18. - Maybe because the artist wanted everyone to mainly focus on his drawing instead of paying attention to the small design or symbol in the corner. I think he wanted people to get a deeper meaning of the and to understand his drawings more.

  19. 12.) In a paragraph describe the main idea of what this artwork. What underlying message seems to be communicated. What is it designed to communicate or make you feel?

  20. - As I said before in question number 10, I think the message is basically telling us not to believe anything we see. People often deceive you. The quiet ones are the most trouble. It's mostly sending a message to the quiet people telling them it's okay to rebel once in a while.
